Jerry's
father, Jerry Holland Senior, was a fine fiddler and was
from Tweedside, N.B. area, the same region as Don Messer,
one of Canada's most famous fiddlers.Messer was the host of the most celebrated musical show in Canadian Television history, Don Messer's Jubilee. He was a life-long friend of Jerry Holland Senior. On this rare recording Jerry Holland Senior is accompanied by Auby Foley on guitar. This tape appeared in Don Messer's private collection, at the Nova Scotia public archives in Halifax. 1962

A
young Jerry Holland began his recording career in 1962 with
this audition tape for Don Messer's show. At the age of six
Jerry's playing exhibits stunning control, intonation and
his unique, trademark sound. He was accompanied by Aubey
Foley on guitar.1962 -

At
this young age Jerry was also an exceptional step dancer. He
was featured weekly at dances hosted by Bill Lamey where his
step dancing performances would result in a shower of coins.
Jerry went on to appear on the Don Messer show later that
year. It was the beginning of one of the most exceptional
careers in Canadian fiddle music history. Here is a sample
of his stepdancing back then. Jerry is accompanied by his
father on fiddle and Auby Foly on guitar.1962 -
